What is agoraphobia?

Agoraphobia is anxiety about being in places or situations where a possible escape might be difficult. Also the possibility to receive help in situations of a panic attack is reduced.
Symptoms of agoraphobia:

Agoraphobia is a fear of open spaces. However, this is an incomplete and misleading view. Agoraphobics are not necessarily afraid of open spacers. Rather, they are afraid of having panic attacks, wherever. These fearful feelings may occur. For many people, they happen  in houses of worship, or in crowded supermarkets, or at home - places that are certainly not open.Agoraphobia may be diagnosed either as panic disorder with agoraphobia, or agoraphobia without history of panic disorder.
Agoraphobia is a condition which develops when a person begins to avoid spaces or situations associated with anxiety and panic attacks. "Phobic situations" might include shopping, driving, traveling, crowded places, being alone, standing in line, social gatherings  and meetings.
